I like to dance but I have two left feet, can I learn?

Dancing is for everyone who loves music and wants to be sociable.  If you have the desire to dance and you are willing to be committed, we assure you that in no time, you can achieve your goal of becoming a great dancer.

How long will it take me to learn?

It depends on how often you attend classes and how much time you devote to practicing what you have learned.  Everyone’s ability to learn and retain is different.  Our advice to our student is to attend each practice session as much as possible.

Which dance is the best for me to start?

At Feathers Ballroom each student can start with whatever they want.  But we always encourage our student to start with the Chacha as it is the basic of all Latin dances.

How many lessons Do I need before I can go to parties?

Feathers Ballroom teaches you on your very first lesson all the basic steps that will allow you to start partying right away. 

What is best, groups or private lessons?

Each have their benefits.  A private lesson gives you the opportunity to be on a one-on-one basis with the instructor and give you the chance to ask as many questions as possible.  On the other hands group lessons give you the opportunity to feel different partners and also give you the time to learn your steps by watching the people before you.

Do I need a partner to participate in a group lesson?

No. We have many students who come alone and we work with everyone on a rotation basis.  However, if you bring your partner and you want to dance only with him you just need not to change partner when the teacher calls for it.

How do I practice what I have learned?

Feathers Ballroom offers practice session every Friday and Saturday at a minimal price.  Check the calendar for the schedule.

What do I need to wear for classes?

Classes are offered in a very relax atmosphere.  Wear something comfortable that will allow you to move freely.

What do I need to wear for the practice nights?

Feathers encourages its students to dress semi-formally for the Friday and Saturday practice sessions. 

Do I need dance shoes?

Dance shoes are recommended but if you are not sure you want to keep dancing and do not want to invest in a dance shoe, just wear a leather soled shoes if possible. 

How much are each group class?

Each group class cost $12 for a 55 minutes session.  However, we offer packages for group of 4, 8, 12 etc. lessons at a discount. 

How much are for private lessons?

Private lessons are arranged directly with the instructor.  Each instructor charges different price for their private.

Do you offer packages?

We have packages for 4, 8, 12, 20 lessons at discount prices. 

Do you offer packages for family and group of friends?

We have a special price offer for family and group of friends depending on the number of people.

Do you teach children?

We have classes for children from age 8 and up. 

What classes do you have for children?

The children participate in Latin, ballroom and Hip Hop classes.

What are the ages? 

Ages 8 and up.

How are your classes taught?

Our classes are taught on a on-going continuous basis.  However we never send away a new student.  We have qualified teachers on standby ready to work with each new student and prepare them to join the group class already in session.   

Do you have performances for the students?

Feathers offers student performances on a quarterly basis.  Every four months each student has the opportunity to show their friends and family what they have learned in a well choreographed show put together by our artistic director.

Are the performances for advanced students only?

No. Our student showcase is for everyone beginner and advanced.  If you are willing to put the extra time required to prepare for the performance you can sign up with the student or teacher you would like to perform with. 

How long does it take to prepare for the performance?

In the average, a minimum of three months is required to prepare for the show depending on the availability of the student.  If a student can spend many hours a week for practice less time might be necessary.

What are the criteria to participate in a performance?

A student desiring to participate in a performance first need to select who he or she wants to dance with and need to contact the artistic director as soon as possible to discuss the availability of the style they would like to perform.

Where are the classes offered?

All our classes are offered in our very own spacious 6,500 sq feet studio located in Davie, Florida.

Which dances do you offer?

We offer all Latin dances (Salsa, Chacha, Rumba, Samba, Meringue, Bachata etc.), The smooth dances (American Tango, Fox trot, Waltz), Argentine Tango, Jive etc.

Will you be teaching the other disciplines in the future?

We add new classes upon request of our current students and depending on the number of students signing up for the new class.
